These are in-depth courses covering the body of knowledge of project management, project management core element, project management concept, technique and processes. The course also covers leadership skills, problem solving, decision making, teams and motivation, finances in projects, global project management peculiarities, organizational culture and climate, business portfolio management, development of business blue prints, project management methodologies including PRINCE 2, tools in project management including MS Project and PMW, etc. IT IS A TOTAL PACKAGE. Course Structure: Each course will be for a period of 5 days (9.00 am – 5.00 pm). Training will be a matrix of didactic lectures, group work, discussions, exercises and end of class examination. For those who desire to do the four levels; there will be a minimum of 4 weeks in-between levels to allow for application of concepts and experiential learning.

Certifications: 3 Certificates per training. All participants who complete the process will be issued certificate of completion. Those who are successful in the course examination will be given a certificate of proficiency. EFMC will support successful candidates to apply; write and pass all relevant international examinations.

Nigerian Professional Monitoring and Evaluation Course (NPMEC)

Motto:“Monitoring and Evaluation for Sustainable Public Health Impact in Nigeria”

Introduction: As the emphasis on managing for results increases, the demand for rigorous and evidenced- based evaluations is rising.Funders and other stakeholders want to know whether a project has spent its money appropriately and desired outcomes have been achieved. NPMEC is a three (3) month certificate course in Monitoring and Evaluation for Sustainable Public Health Impact in Nigeria. Participants who qualify after the training and undertake the advanced course will be awarded a Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation (DipME).

This 3-month program will give participants the knowledge, tools,and competencies to create and manage a successful Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) program for their workplace and projects. The course consists of 3 parts:

  1. A 7-day in-class Introductory course
  2. A 10-week supervised M&E field- based project which will be conducted by the participants at their workplaces and
  3. A 1-week Project Preparation culminating in a 2-day presentation and graduation seminar.

Successful participants will graduate from the course with the ability to describe, plan, and implement effective M&E programs for public health projects, especially as it relates to HIV programming and other public health interventions in Nigeria. They will acquire the capacity to initiate and devlop functional M&E systems, train team members on M&E issues, lead M&E teams in related activities and ensure that their organizations make effective use of the results of their M&E systems. Each participant will graduate after developing an M&E project that will be presented as part of this course.

Profile of potential course participants: The ideal course participant should either be a staff who is responsible for or has a substantial M&E or management role in their project or program. As the course is designed to ensure that each participant is able toorganize and steer evaluations in such a way that they contribute to accountability thereby adding value to their organization and thus improving public health in Nigeria, only currently employed individuals will be admitted into this course.

Course Requirement:The ideal participant should be able to work hard and contribute to this interactive course which will be taught using participatory adult learning methods. The ideal participant should have knowledge of basic epidemiology and biostatistics with at least a Bachelors degree in any related field. Past training withNigerian Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (NFELTP) and other public health short courses is an advantage.

Course content:

a. 7-day introductory course

The course will be taught using a mix of lectures and practical activities including case studies. The participants will be introduced to problem analysis, logical and other frameworks for planning an M&E system; design of program evaluations; development and use of indicators, combination and use of data collection methods to obtain and interpret program evaluation data; and communication of evaluation findings persuasively for maximum impact. The participants will finish the introductory course with a project that each participant will work on at their workplace for 10 week periods.

 b.10-Week Supervised field project period

Participants will utilize the knowledge and skills obtained from the introductory course to develop and implement an M&E project at their workplace. This will be designed to enable them learn the practice of M&E while providing service. Course facilitators will provide mentoring on these projects and supervision during the 10-weeks.

c. 1-week project write up and presentation

Participants will spend the last week of this 3-month course finalizing their project write up and preparing an oral presentation of their product which will consist of key findings and lessons learned from their M&E project. The presentation will be given in a 2-day graduation seminar to public health stakeholders in Nigeria.

Course Facilitators: This course will be taught by experienced local and internationalfacilitators drawn from USA, Uganda and Nigeria. The facilitators, who are renowned in the global public health arena, have experience in M&E and competency-based training\ methods for public health workers in several countries.

Course Logistics:

  1. Course dates and location:This will take place in our training centre, Faith Complex, Kubwa Abuja or in any other venue depending on client request.
  2. Course cost: $3,500.00 or its equivalent. This cost covers cost materials, supervision and mentoring visits. Participants or their organizations will be required to take full responsibility for thier travels and accommodation.

*The cost of the travels, accommodation and meals is estimated at $1,500.00*

    c. Mandatory Course materials: A laptop and current or past data from programming.

     d. Limited scholarships are available:This could be in the form of:

    1. Full scholarship: This is highly limited and will cover course fee, travels and accommodation with a minimal daily sustainance allowance (DSA). Only staff of the Federal or State Minsitries are qualified for this opportunity
    2. Partial Scholarships: This will cover course fee, travels and accommodation but no DSA.
    3. Course fee waiver: This will cover only the cost fee and is open to all interested participants
